hey whats up??i am doing a research project on witches whether they are reall or not who believes and who doesnt so heres how it will work i have gotten several information on withes and witchcraft to see what i think is reall and not. soo please e-mail me with your opinions randi_holly2006@yahoo.com Witches--Real or Not? The question that I will now propose has had many people wondering for hundreds of years, trying to figure out if our imagination takes control of us, or if the supernatural really exists. So I ask, "Are witches real, or are they just excuses that people make up in their heads to explain things that they cannot figure out?" Some people believe that witches exist, and they do not doubt it for a second. Others will debate just the opposite argument, that they know for a fact that witches do not exist, despite what anybody tells them. Then there are people like me, who are stuck in the middle just wondering if they really do exist, and are confused because of the evidence for both sides. People who argue that witches do in fact exist may say this because they are afraid of anything different. Back in the 17th century, people found some acts of others to be strange, and in fear of those actions, they called them witches and felt better knowing why the actions were performed. When people got hurt or sick, the problems that were beyond what medical technology of the time could fathom were blamed on witchcraft. When the Salem Witch Trials started, there were people on opposite sides of the spectrum in whether they believe in witchcraft or not. The people who believed that witchcraft did not really exist had the same arguments stated in the previous paragraph. They also figured that the spread of the "witch hunt" was due to jealousy and revenge among neighbors. Yet the people who believed it did exist truly believed that people really were hurt and made ill by witches. They have seen familiars and devil marks, and they believed in the spectral evidence given in testimonies. It was clear as day to these people that witches actually exist. In today's society, movies have had people question the reality of witchcraft. "The Blair Witch Project" had people initially believe that it was true story and that witches were really involved, and so witchcraft really exists. By the fact that many people believed that it was a true story proved that people can think witches exist when they are told through convincing sources, such as the media. When people found out that in actuality it was not a true story, some went back to doubting the existence of witches and felt that they never truly believed that the story could be true because they have always seen witchcraft as being so farfetched. Some people say that they are witches, and others think they are just crazy for thinking that. When people run in to long streaks of bad luck, some begin to question if they have been cursed. Yet, if they do not believe in witchcraft, then what could have cursed them. They can just be using this to explain what they do not understand though. This all leads us back to the beginning, in which I will ask again, "Are witches real, or are they just excuses that people make up in their heads to explain things that they cannot figure out?" Well, I cannot figure out the answer to this question, and apparently many others cannot either. I assume that this is one of those questions that can be debated for the rest of eternity without anybody being able to prove that one theory is definitely correct. Although, many have tried in the past, and many will continue to try in the future, it is a question that can not be answered by those of us who exist in the natural world. That is why we call this phenomenon supernatural. Maybe when we stand before God by the Pearly Gates, we can ask him if witches really do exist.
